The Frequency of Renewal: One Year into the Great Unknown

A year ago, I took a chance on myself.

I stepped away from the traditional career path and into the great unknown, not because I had everything figured out, but because I knew the career I left wasn’t in alignment with my heart and soul (cheesy, I know).

March arrives like a threshold. Not a dramatic ‘new beginning,’ but a quieter turning - the kind you feel in your nervous system before you can explain it with words

And now, as March arrives, I find myself saying this with so much clarity: this past year has been a year of renewal.

Not the Pinterest version of renewal. Not the “new year, new me” kind of energy. But the kind of renewal that happens when you look back and realize… something in you is safer. Softer. Truer.

Renewal, for me, started in the body

A year ago, I was stuck in fight-or-flight. My body was constantly bracing. And today? I feel a safety in my body that actually matches the work I teach.

Am I perfect? No. But I catch myself every day reminding myself: I am allowed to rest, even as an entrepreneur.

That sentence alone is a form of renewal.

Because so many of us, especially those of us who are holding families, building businesses, doing care work, trying to “keep up” - have been conditioned to believe rest has to be earned. Or worse, that rest is a reward for exhaustion.

But March doesn’t ask us to force.

March asks us to return.

What this winter taught me: scarcity is not the move

This winter asked me to trust my intuition. To let my inner voice and the sensations in my body guide me.

And it reminded me of something I need to say out loud (for myself and for you):

Doing more out of scarcity is not the move.

If you’ve been in a season where your nervous system is convinced you have to hustle to be safe I want you to know you’re not alone. And also: there is another way.

Sometimes renewal looks like releasing the urge to grip so tightly.Sometimes renewal looks like letting your life breathe again.

The Frequency of Renewal is reflection

Here’s what renewal actually means to me:

Renewal is reflection. It’s looking at what hasn’t worked, what you’ve outgrown, what hasn’t supported you… and deciding what gets to come into the next phase with you.

That decision can be subtle.

It can look like:

  • saying no to what drains you (even if it’s familiar)

  • choosing rest without waiting for permission

  • prioritizing what regulates your body, not just what checks the box

  • letting your next chapter be built from alignment instead of adrenaline

A myth I want to lovingly call out

One of the biggest myths about healing and renewal is that you’ll always recognize it while it’s happening. In fast-paced lives, we don’t always pause long enough to say:“Wow… look at my growth.”

We have to proactively carve out time to witness ourselves. And honestly, that’s why so many people come to my work, because it becomes a gateway into that kind of reflection.

Not because you’re “broken.”But because you deserve space to feel your own becoming.

The moments that confirmed I’m in alignment

I’ve felt a shift recently not from one big moment, but from a series of moments. Each person who walks into the Luna Sound Lounge carries their own story:grief, physical pain, life transitions… and also love, celebration, and healing intergenerationally with mothers and grandmothers.

And the shift for me has been realizing what a gift it is to simply hold space and to know I’m in true alignment. A complete 180 from how I felt a year ago. That’s renewal too.

Not just changing what you do but changing how it feels to be you in your own life.

My simple renewal rituals (the ones I actually use)

When I’m coming back to myself, I return to the simplest things:

  • Sunlight on my skin. It brings me back to the present moment.

  • A cup of cacao. A slow, steady reminder that nourishment can be ceremonial.

  • The low vibration of my metal Himalayan bowl on the body. I’ll take a break between clients, regulate, and feel back into me.

You don’t need a massive routine to renew.

You need one practice that tells your body:You’re safe right now. You can soften.

What I’m noticing in my community right now

People need rest. So many of us are stuck in the fast-paced nature of life, constantly trying to keep up. And I see mothers in particular who don’t give themselves permission to just feel. I used to be one of them.

The Luna Sound Lounge is a place where people can let their guard down- cry, laugh, reflect and never apologize for what’s true.

If you’ve been holding it together for everyone else, let this be your reminder:

You deserve spaces that hold you.

Renewal and belonging

When I think about renewal, I think about community.Who am I choosing to be part of my support system in this next phase? How am I resourcing myself — with teachers, opportunities, events, and interactions that support what’s next? Because renewal isn’t just personal. It’s relational. It’s who you’re surrounded by. It’s what you let into your life. It’s what you stop tolerating. It’s what you finally allow.

A mini “Frequency of Renewal” practice (3 minutes)

If you want a simple reset today, try this:

  1. Step into sunlight (or stand near a window).

  2. Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly.

  3. Inhale slowly for 4… exhale slowly for 6… repeat 5 rounds.

  4. Ask yourself: What am I ready to stop carrying into the next phase?

  5. Let one word rise. Don’t overthink it. Write it down.

That’s it.

That’s the doorway.

Your invitation for March

If this month is calling you into renewal, I want to invite you into the work in a way that’s real and supportive — not performative.

1) Book a bundle of sessions (because you need more than one). March anchor blog qsThis is how we create momentum — not just one beautiful experience, but ongoing nervous system support.

2) Come to an in-person or hybrid class and feel what “layered movement” can be. A taste of practice that goes beyond the physical workout — into regulation, reflection, and return. Offerings this season include: Slow Flow + Restorative (hybrid), Flow Level 2 (hybrid), Restorative Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, BYO Baby Yoga, Vinyasa, Candlelight Flow, and late-night Vinyasa for mothers.

3) And most importantly… come on retreat with me. If you’re craving renewal in community - I have 4 spots left for El Salvador, and I would love to hold that experience with you. Because sometimes renewal needs more than an hour. Sometimes it needs space. Ocean. Ceremony. Laughter. Quiet. Community.A full-body yes.
